Transgender Wearing Make America Great Again Hat Gets Assaulted

The 16-twelvemonth-old who was assaulted over his "Brand America Great Again" lid at a San Antonio Whataburger said he wants to have an open conversation with his attacker about their political differences.

"He has a right to his stance," said Hunter Richard, 16. "I'm downwardly for other opinions, and I'1000 open to conversations. Permit's talk through this and come to some sort of agreement or neutral basis."

Richard, who lives in Orlando but was in San Antonio visiting friends, was thrust into the spotlight Midweek later a video of the assault went viral on social media, racking upwardly millions of views and thousands of comments.

The seconds-long video starts about halfway through the assault, just Richard and two friends who were with him said there wasn't much build up. They said they had gone to the Whataburger at Nacogdoches Road and Thou Oaks around 2 a.yard. and never made eye contact or any gestures toward the man.

Just near five minutes into their meal, he approached their tabular array.

"He just immediately ripped my lid off and asked why I was wearing it," Richard said.

He told the man he was wearing the hat considering he supports the president. The suspect, who police said was 30 merely who they have not identified, and then tossed a drink in his face and walked off with the bright red MAGA lid.

"You own't supportin' s--t, n----," the suspect says as he strolls out of the restaurant.

Richard said the attack caught him and his friends past surprise, simply the online response to the video has been overwhelming.

San Antonio constabulary are now investigating the set on. Rumble, a local bar on Due north St. Mary'south Street, said in a argument that the doubtable was a part-fourth dimension employee who was fired after management was made aware of the video.

"I'm mixed on it," Richard said. "I do feel similar he deserves what he got. He unlawfully came over, stole a hat and chucked a drink in my face. But at the same time, people make mistakes."

In a written statement, Whataburger representatives said no employees were involved or witnessed the attack.

"We were shocked to run into this video and certainly don't condone this type of customer behavior in our restaurants," the statement read.

Braxton Gonzales, one of Richard's friends who witnessed the assail, said the suspect's deportment were "completely ridiculous and uncalled for" but hopes he receives a second chance.

He said he understands why MAGA hats are controversial and he doesn't support Trump either. Merely a more appropriate response would've been to talk to Richard well-nigh his political beliefs, every bit he has, Gonzalez said.

"I don't support Trump, but we've talked about our political views, and we've been friends for many years," he said.
